What is an Endurance Athlete?

Summer is prime race season for many endurance athletes, but what really is an endurance athlete?

In training terms we classify endurance training as repeated isotonic contractions of large skeletal muscle groups OR the ability of a muscle, or a group of muscles, to exert a force for a prolonged period.

The definition of endurance is the ability to continue with an unpleasant or difficult situation, experience, or activity over a long period of time.

Finally, a definition of endurance athlete might be people who participate in sports or activities that demand the ability to make a lot of physical effort over a long period of time.

Check out how Change the Game Endurance Athletes define themselves and why to do what they do in the video below. Dr. Brandon will also discuss how we do things differently with our Endurance Training here at CTG.
