Baseline testing is a quick and easy way to get athletes excited about their performance and can create a mindset of competition with themselves. This type of testing allows coaches to see where athletes excel and allows them to identify weaknesses as observed through a variety of functional and sport specific movement patterns.
Traditionally, in the performance world, people tend to track improvement solely around weights lifted during strength training components. While this works, it doesn’t help coaches, athletes, and/or trainers identify the specific deficit areas when athletes plateau. Because our testing protocols measure speed, strength, and range of motion, repeated testing throughout the year can improve the type of tangible information used to form an athlete’s strength and conditioning program.
Testing can be performed throughout the year to help increase athlete’s confidence in their performance through concrete data.
Baseline testing is also useful for athletes who experience injury by allowing healthcare and rehabilitation professionals to track improvement and determine an athlete’s readiness to return to normal training.
Baseline testing can improve the sports performance world and at Change the Game we utilize it every chance we get to improve our athlete’s performance.
